The FYidoctors | Visique Enhancing Life Foundation was created with the focus to support charities that enhance life for Canadians. While our Foundation remains committed to providing children in need across Canada with vision care, its scope now includes various charitable organizations that aim to improve their communities for people of all ages. In fact, 80 charities in communities from coast to coast have been funded and supported through the generosity of donors and the fundraising efforts of clinics. Our mission is to share the passion and expertise for eye care collectively held by the FYidoctors and Visique teams to spark equal levels of enthusiasm towards other humanitarian initiatives.
Among the 80 charities our Foundation has helped thus far, our focus on supporting children and animals, as well as providing resources to support health & wellness and food & shelter initiatives, has contributed to funding some of Canada’s most vulnerable citizens and worthy causes. Numerous hospitals, not-for-profit organizations, societies and foundations have been given the capacity to raise awareness for their respective causes while serving the needs of their clients.
Today, FYidoctors and Visique will be celebrating Enhancing Life Day when every FYidoctors and Visique clinic will be raising funds for the charity that means the most to them. We have aptly named October the Month of Giving to reflect the overwhelming ambition of our clinics and the kindness of our neighbours throughout the country.
For instance, the Downtown and Rochdale clinics in Regina are giving back to the Regine Humane Society, who actively engage in educating the public on pet ownership and offering services to our furry little family members. Additionally, the Regina Humane Society provided Pet Loss Support and community outreach through pet therapy, training, microchip implanting, and spay and neutering programs. Visique Ste-Adèle will be giving back to Mira, a guide dog training program that was the first to match guide dogs with children as young as 11 years old.
Moreover, clinics in Chilliwack, Sardis, and Hope have focused their philanthropic efforts on ending hunger in children by offering “fresh, hot, and healthy” meals to kids in their communities. Other clinics, such as Calgary—Southcentre Mall, helped to provide adults with the shelter, food, and other basic necessities required for people afflicted by homelessness, addiction, mental illness, or unfortunate circumstance, to live fulfilling and safe lives. Also in Calgary, our Kensington clinic has chosen the Inter-Faith Food Bank to help provide nutritious food hampers to individuals and families affected by insecurity across the city.
Each organization carries with it a unique, yet equally important cause. Our mission is to support each and every one whole-heartedly through hands-on collaboration and contribution. Although our Month of Giving is wrapping up, we still encourage you to reach out to us or visit your local clinic to learn about the organization they’re supporting.
