Your eye exam includes a series of non-invasive tests using ultra-widefield and OCT imaging technologies. Don't worry, we'll explain them to you as we go along. Our eye care professionals will help your optometrist gather as much information as possible about the health of your eyes.
Thanks to our pre-tests, we are able to check for certain risks of complications, such as:
colour blindness | depth perception | intraocular pressure | peripheral vision
Ultra-widefield Imaging
The health of your eyes is often an indicator of your overall health. Your retina can reveal serious problems such as glaucoma, diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer.
Ultra-widefield imaging allows us to see up to 80% of your retina and detect health problems at an early stage, if any. This allows your optometrist to identify other risk factors that they wouldn't be able to see without pupil dilation, and to guide their diagnosis and treatment plan.
OCT Imaging
We are proud to use OCT imaging as part of your care. This imaging device scans your eyes and presents the information in high-resolution 3D images. These detailed images allow us to better understand how your eyes work. An OCT exam shows:
- The ten layers of the retina and optic nerve
- Signs of diseases such as glaucoma and diabetes
- Objects a thousand times smaller than the thickness of a human hair
- Changes in your visual health
Your Visique optometrist will show you the 3D images of your eyes and point out any areas of concern.
