Our April employee, Marielle Boutin, loves to combine business with pleasure. For her, her job is first and foremost to offer personalized service, but also to have fun every day with colleagues and patients.
What is your current position at Visique?
I am currently Optician and Clinic Coach.
Briefly describe your studies and places of training.
I completed my Visual Orthosis technique at Cégep Garneau in Quebec two years ago and before, I completed a presentation design technique at Cégep de Sainte-Foy.
What made you want to work in the field of eye care?
I was attracted by this area because it allows us on the one hand to help and improve the lives of people and on the other hand, to find a style that suits them! I love contact with people, taking the time to understand them and I also love the aesthetic aspect of my work.
What do you like most about your job?
Every day is different and full of new encounters or familiar faces! It is wonderful after a few years in the same clinic to see the same patients again and feel that a bond of trust is created. It is something precious in my field and it makes my daily optician everything but ordinary.
What is the most difficult part of your job?
Not having the immediate solution to a problem of vision or comfort more complicated to solve. It pushes me to get the answers and to improve myself more and more.
What time did you prefer while working at the clinic?
The reaction of a patient when he comes to get his new glasses. It is very rewarding to see that they are happy with their choices, that they see better and that they are satisfied with the service they receive at the clinic.
How do you see the future of eye care?
With a lot of positivism, it is a field in constant development. Technology will bring many changes in the future and we will have our place in the field of health. Nevertheless, patients will still need the human-to-human contact that is at the heart of our work.
What is the most important advice you want to give to your patients?
Do their eye exams regularly, pay particular attention to the maintenance of their contact lenses and also to the choice of their glasses. Eye health is as important as any aspect of overall health!
Where can we find you when you're not at Visique?
In a yoga class, doing an artistic project or busy planning my next adventure in an unknown country. I am curious and all-rounder.
Would you like to add something else? All memorable memories and anecdotes are welcome.
The atmosphere is always funny at Visique! When I finished my internship at the end of my Visual Orthotics course, my colleagues decided to play a trick on me for my last day. I was treated with Oreo biscuits stuffed with… toothpaste!
